A Bit About Me

Welcome to Starke Physiothérapie. Based in Montreux since early 2022 and practicing independently since 2020, this practice specialises in helping vestibular patients regain their balance and confidence just steps from the shores of Lac Léman.

From Eindhoven to the Swiss Alps

The journey began in 2002, graduating from Fontys University in the Netherlands. Seeking adventure, a train ticket led to Sirnach, Switzerland. Starting a career in a new language and culture was a challenge that sparked a lifelong passion for learning. It was here, while treating a pilot with dizziness, that a deep curiosity for the complexities of the vestibular system was born.

The Röstigraben and New Beginnings

After four years, the journey crossed the "Röstigraben" to the stunning Lavaux region. Immersing in the French language and culture became essential, as clear communication is the foundation of successful therapy. By 2008, I had specialized as a European Sports Physiotherapist, pushing myself to excel in every project I touched.

Strength Through Experience

In 2012, life took an unexpected turn through a period of burnout. Experiencing firsthand the disorientation of dizziness and the intrusion of tinnitus was difficult, but it became my greatest teacher. Through mindfulness, photography, and nature, I found my way back to balance. This personal history allows me to truly understand the "invisible" symptoms my patients face; I don’t just treat these conditions, I know them.

Expert Care Rooted in Science

Today, my practice combines that empathy with rigorous science. Having trained under world-renowned experts like Susan Herdman and Neil Shepard, and collaborating closely with ENT specialists, I ensure my treatments reflect the latest developments in otoneurology.

Whether through the lens of a camera or a session in the clinic, I believe that finding a new perspective is the key to recovery. If you are navigating dizziness or tinnitus, I am here to help you find your steady ground again.

There is always more to tell. In this biography, I decided to share some of my personal experiences as they might sound familiar and therefore, possibly helpful. But if you want to know more about dizziness and tinnitus, then please refer to the 'treatments' and ‘resources’ sections on this website.

If you have any further questions, please feel free to contact me.

Work Experience

June 2020 - Present

March 2007- May 2020

October 2002 - October 2006

'During this period, I decided to become independent and founded Starke Physiotherapy. I became deeply passionate about treating patients with vestibular disorders, which soon became my area of focus. I completed courses in CBT, an essential part of managing PPPD and tinnitus, and every day continues to open new and exciting opportunities relevant to my profession.'

'I worked for thirteen years at Comeback Physiotherapy in a dynamic team with great colleagues. During this time, I completed my European Sports Physiotherapy education, advanced my chronic pain training, and increasingly treated vestibular patients. In recent years, collaborating closely with ENT Dr. Crisan inspired me to focus even more on vestibular therapy.'

'I spent four formative years at Physiotherapy Sirnach, working closely with many Dutch colleagues. These were my first years as a physical therapist, during which I developed a strong enthusiasm for sports physiotherapy, chronic pain management, and was introduced to vestibular therapy.'
